Chiropractic

Chiropractic is a healing discipline firmly grounded in science, philosophy, and art. Although its main focus is the relationship between the spine and the nervous system that runs through it, chiropractic is concerned with the care of the entire body. Chiropractors use various diagnostic methods, including x-rays, infrared thermography, and other neurological testing to discover the state of your health and body function. We pay particular attention to your spine and nervous system, as this is the system that controls and influences your overall health.

Premises of Chiropractic   Chiropractic is based on 4 premises:

  1. Your body is a self-healing organism. You were born to be healthy and are designed to heal yourself!
  2. Your nervous system (your brain, spinal cord and nerves) is the master controlling and healing system of your body. As long as your brain and spinal cord are sending life to every cell, tissue and organ of your body, you should have the very best health you have ever had in your life-this is known as normal.
  3. If something interferes with the life flowing from your brain and spinal cord, your body will malfunction; if malfunction goes uncorrected, disease and sickness will manifest.
  4. Finally, chiropractors correct this interference. Gentle, effective adjustments are given with intent to correct this interference so your body will heal itself and function at 100%.

In our office there are three phases of chiropractic care.  Each phase is an important step in the healing process.

Initial Intensive Care   Initial Intensive Care

This phase of care is designed to get you back on your feet and out of a "health rut"  Adjustments tend to be frequent in this phase in order to reduce the damage to your discs, ligaments and tendons, muscles and bones usually due to years of chronic subluxations.  Your first few adjustments may only hold for a few hours.

  • Your spine is weak and unstable
  • Your posture is usually off-balance
  • Your energy can be low at this point
  • Coping with stress (physical, mental, chemical) may be jeopardized
  • You may have many symptoms, a sign that your body is struggling to heal

Corrective care   Corrective Care

This stage is designed to stabilize previous injuries that have healed incorrectly and to correct new subluxations as they occur.  Adjustments begin to hold longer during this phase of care.  Subluxation patterns tend to shift, a sign that the body is healing.

  • Consistent subluxation correction is still needed for healing and stability to progress
  • Physical and emotional well-being improve during this phase
  • Spinal degeneration begins to be halted, slowed, and usually reversed
  • Your energy levels increase
  • You are better able to deal with stress (physical, chemical, mental)

 Family Wellness   Wellness Care

Once your corrective care program is completed, you will be offered a transition to wellness care.  This care is designed to maximize your health potential through subluxation correction throughout your lifetime.  Subluxations occurring during this phase of care are easily released.

  • Your energy levels are high; your body functions at a higher level of disease resistance
  • You are better able to respond to the external environment and stresses
  • Your nervous system is balanced and stable
  • Maximized living
