Exercise & Nutrition

Depending on your health status, some core stability exercises need to be avoided for a while, especially when just beginning care.  For this reason, I will recommend stretches and exercises only on an individual basis when you are ready.  If exercises and certain stretches are given too early, they can cause more pain and discomfort or even minimize the progress of your adjustment program.  Please speak with me prior to doing any exercises or stretches; it could do more harm than good at the beginning of your care.

Of course a fitness program should be a part of everyone's wellness strategy, so if you are thinking about beginning one, or would like some new ideas, please speak with me!

General Fitness Programs should consist of cardiovascular exercise 3-5 times/week for at least 20 minutes (research indicates two 10 minute bouts are as effective as one 20 minute session).  Resistance training (weight training) is very important and should consist of a minimum 3 sessions per week.

Should your desire personal training services, Dr. Saunders will refer you to a qualified professional.

Before beginning any exercise program, please speak with your chiropractor or health professional.

There may be certain nutritional supplements that we recommend to you to help your body heal.  As well, understanding how important nutrition is to your overall health and healing capabilities will be discussed on an individual basis.  Take advantage of our complimentary 'in-house' nutrition seminars to learn more about healthy eating.  Should you desire a dietary analysis, just ask!
